Nigerian Navy has launched a major offensive against militants and kidnappers operating along the Calabar–Oron waterways in Cross River State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the development was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Information, Abiodun Folorunsho, who said the operation was carried out by Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory in collaboration with Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ibaka.

According to him, the operation targeted Dayspring Island following a spike in kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
Folorunsho said the offensive led to the destruction of a hideout linked to a wanted militant leader identified as “Juju.”
He added that the operation was strengthened by the establishment of a forward security outpost at Idung 1, also known as Peacock Crossing, to give troops a strategic advantage in monitoring and controlling surrounding waterways.

Naval personnel, working alongside troops of the Nigerian Army 13 Brigade, reportedly forced suspected militants to abandon their camps while securing key routes used for criminal operations.
“Exploitation of the area led to the discovery and destruction of a militant hideout linked to a notorious suspect known as ‘Juju’ in the Idung axis,” Folorunsho said.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping and restore safety along critical waterways in the region.
