Tension has gripped Abraka community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State after soldiers pursuing suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “yahoo boys,” shot and killed a pregnant woman on Saturday evening.
According to Eyewitnesses, Eko Hot Blog reports that the soldiers attached to Operation Delta Sweep, had attempted to flag down the suspects, but they sped off, prompting a hot pursuit.

In the process, the soldiers reportedly fired several gunshots. One of the bullets struck the pregnant woman, who was not involved in the incident. She died instantly before she could be taken to a hospital.

The killing triggered protests from indigenes, residents and students, who took to the streets in anger against the soldiers.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement as at the time of filing this report.
