EKO HOT BLOG reports that the record-breaking feat, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria, produced an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds 9 ounces) of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
In an announcement shared on its official 𝕏 handle on Monday, GWR stated: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice, 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
Hilda Baci first rose to international prominence in May 2023 when she broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, after spending 93 hours and 11 minutes in the kitchen. Her new record further cements her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated culinary talents.
Meanwhile, Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has shared her opinion on the rising trend of comparing celebrity weddings.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, she cautioned against attaching too much importance to lavish parties or public displays, stressing that the size or glamour of a wedding does not guarantee marital success.
Omoborty added that people should celebrate in their own way without pressure from societal expectations. She described the comparison of weddings as childish and revealed that some couples even run into debt trying to fund extravagant ceremonies.
She urged the public to remember that the true essence of marriage lies in the happiness of the couple, not in outsiders’ opinions or the scale of their wedding celebrations.
