Private Musa was found guilty of murder, culpable homicide, and illegal possession of ammunition.
During the trial, the court heard that Musa, along with an accomplice known as Oba, lured Isa to Musa’s residence under the guise of assisting with moving personal belongings.
Musa then attacked Isa by hitting him on the head with a wooden object before strangling him to death.
In an effort to hide the crime, Musa placed the victim’s body in a sack and abandoned it between Shira and Yala villages.
Meanwhile, Isa’s tricycle was sold. Additionally, Musa was found with 34 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition without proper authorization.
Brigadier General Bello condemned Musa’s actions, calling them brutal and a betrayal of the military’s core values and duty to protect citizens.
“You changed from a protector of the people to a cold-blooded killer. Your conduct is a disgrace and shame to the Nigerian Army,” Bello said.
Musa received the death penalty for culpable homicide, under Section 220 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 221.

For unlawful possession of ammunition, he was sentenced to two years in prison and dishonorably discharged from the Nigerian Army.
Major Aminu Mairuwa, Acting Deputy Director of Legal Services, 3 Division, said the verdict shows the Army’s firm stance on discipline and justice.
“This ruling underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring that no member acts outside the law or established protocols,” Mairuwa said.
