EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Jigawa State Police Command announced that from that date, any vehicle using tinted glass without a valid permit will be subject to enforcement actions. A grace period for applying is currently active.
Spokesman SP Lawan Shiisu Adam explained that motorists must apply for permits through the authorized portal. Applicants will need to register using NIN, BVN or TIN, provide vehicle details, upload supporting documents, and undergo verification procedures.
Part of the process includes submitting vehicle details, confirming personal information, making the required payment, and attending vehicle inspection with biometric capture. In Jigawa, this will take place at the State Intelligence Department, Dutse.
The police warned the general public to avoid using unofficial agents or middlemen for the permit process. They emphasized that unauthorized persons could exploit the situation.
Enforcement of the permit is aimed at reducing misuse of tinted glasses which, Police say, pose security risks. The directive is part of broader national efforts to standardize vehicle permits and improve road compliance.
Officials also assured that the aim is not to penalize law-abiding citizens but to ensure everyone follows due process. Failure to comply after the enforcement date could lead to vehicle impoundment, fines, or other penalties.
For vehicle owners, this means preparing in advance: completing the application, attending inspection, and ensuring all documents are in order.
