EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, is set to be installed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025, following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who died on July 7 at the age of 90.
The upcoming coronation is expected to draw national attention as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is billed to attend the ceremony, alongside top Yoruba monarchs, governors, political leaders, business executives, and thousands of Ibadan indigenes from across the globe.
The historic Mapo Hall grounds will host the grand installation, which is the highlight of a week-long celebration already scheduled by the coronation planning committee.
Events will commence on Monday, September 22, with an interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace. A cultural fiesta will follow on Tuesday at the Olubadan Stadium, while the University of Ibadan will host a public lecture on Wednesday. Thursday’s programme will feature a praise and worship concert, coinciding with Oba Ladoja’s 81st birthday.
The grand coronation will take place on Friday, followed by a thanksgiving service at Oke Padre Cathedral on Sunday, September 28. A Jumat service scheduled for October 3 will formally close the celebrations.
To ensure order and safety, over 2,000 operatives drawn from the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, Amotekun Corps, and Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority will be deployed.

The Oyo State Government has also confirmed that the coronation will be broadcast live on television, radio, and digital platforms to reach Nigerians in the diaspora.
