EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs to Governor Sule, Peter Ahemba, confirmed the development, describing it as “sad and unfortunate.” He said the governor was informed and security agencies are working to rescue the aide.
Residents in Lafia and neighbouring localities say kidnapping incidents have increased in the area despite repeated police operations. Many attribute the rise to spill-over effects from banditry in neighbouring states, displacement of people, and criminals relocating into Nasarawa.
Security experts who spoke behind the scenes believe that weakened surveillance along escape routes and growing criminal networks are making such abductions easier. They argue that displacement pressures have made Nasarawa attractive to criminal gangs seeking less resistance.
The incident has stirred concern among the people. Several business owners admitted shutting early, and some families are avoiding night commutes, citing fear. Local leaders have called for increased presence of security patrols, better intelligence sharing, and community collaboration to help law enforcement.
Governor Sule had earlier warned officials against using influence to free suspects in custody, highlighting frustration with the system.
The abduction sharpens the stakes ensuring safe homes for public servants and citizens remains a major demand from the populace.
For now, Dr. Osolafia remains missing. The state police command has not yet released a detailed statement, but the search effort is underway. Authorities are appealing to anyone with credible information to come forward.
