The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, over his comment suggesting that President Bola Tinubu is plotting a “life presidency.”
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement on Sunday, the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, described el-Rufai’s claim as mischievous and reckless, stressing that President Tinubu remains a lifelong advocate of democracy.

Oladejo highlighted Tinubu’s role during Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggles of the 1990s, particularly his involvement with the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). He recalled that Tinubu opposed military rule at great personal risk, including threats to his freedom.

He said el-Rufai’s suggestion was “laughable and shameful” given the President’s record of defending constitutional rule and standing against tenure elongation attempts by past administrations.
“The President’s fidelity to Nigeria’s Constitution is proven and unquestionable,” Oladejo added, noting that the country’s democracy remains safeguarded by term limits and institutional checks and balances.
