- DSS invited ex-AGF Malami over the attack on his convoy in Kebbi
- Malami says political opponents may be behind petition
- He commended the DSS for a fair and respectful investigation process
The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited and interrogated former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, over an attack on his convoy in Kebbi State earlier this month.
Eko Hot Blog reported that Malami’s convoy came under attack on September 1, 2025, in Birnin Kebbi, shortly after he visited the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque for a condolence visit.
Confirming the development in a post shared via his Facebook page on Monday, Malami stated that he honoured the DSS invitation and gave his full cooperation.
“I honoured the invitation by the DSS in relation to the unfortunate incident involving my convoy in Kebbi State on September 1st. I was invited to assist with the investigation, and I fully complied,” he said.
He claimed that the petition which led to the DSS probe was politically motivated and driven by rival political interests in the state.

Despite the nature of the incident, Malami praised the security agency for handling the process with professionalism and fairness.
“I was treated with respect throughout the process. I commend the DSS for conducting the inquiry in a dignified and transparent manner. I remain committed to supporting them until the matter is fully resolved,” he added.
