The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, on Saturday said Ebonyi State and the South-East would vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Speaking at the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Umahi dismissed the Peter Obi-led Obidient Movement, insisting that it has no foothold in the state.

“We are not Obidient people. We have been so marginalized that we are no longer Obidient. No, we are not,” Umahi declared.
According to the minister, Tinubu has given the region and the state a sense of belonging, adding that the people will reciprocate his goodwill at the polls.
“It is the man that has given us a sense of belonging, President Bola Tinubu. Let it not be that we are from Ebonyi State and they are saying this state belongs to us. There is no Obidient person in Ebonyi State,” he said.
Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi, added that the outcome of the 2023 elections was a mistake that would not be repeated.

“What we have to do is to record the good things that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for South-East and Ebonyi State when the time comes. We will not be deceived again because the last election was a mistake, but we have come to be wiser,” he said.
The minister noted that he could not exhaustively list all the projects and interventions of the Tinubu administration in the South-East but maintained that they would guide the people’s decision in 2027.
