- Bandits and Kidnappers “Will Find No Hiding Place” in Kwara
- DSS and Police killed about 15 armed bandits during an operation
- “I have assurances from the security agencies to flush out and eliminate the criminals
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared that criminals will have no refuge in the state following Sunday’s deadly attack on Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the incident, which claimed several lives after gunmen ambushed local vigilantes and a traditional leader, has heightened fear among residents.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said he had briefed President Bola Tinubu on the situation and sought greater federal support to tackle banditry along the state’s borders.
According to him, the Nigerian Army has already moved the General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Division to Ilorin to oversee intensified operations. He added that on Monday night, a joint team of the Army, DSS, and Police killed about 15 armed bandits during an operation around Baba Sango, near the Kwara–Kogi border.
“The offensive continued on Tuesday, and last night I presided over the State Security Council meeting in Ilorin to harmonize state and federal strategies for both Kwara North and South,” AbdulRazaq said.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to provide logistics and support to security forces to safeguard lives and property.
“I have assurances from the security agencies to flush out and eliminate the criminals. Kwara will not serve as a safe haven for bandits or kidnappers. Anyone who attempts to destabilize our peace will face justice,” the governor warned.

The statement comes amid rising security concerns following the Oke-Ode killings and growing calls for tougher protection in border communities.
