EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was disclosed on Saturday by the party’s Chairman of Chairmen, Femi Olaniyi (popularly known as Ferrari), during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Olaniyi, who also serves as Lagos State SDP Chairman, said the party would not join any coalition without the explicit directive of the National Working Committee (NWC). He stressed that the SDP remains focused on building a strong internal strategy to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
“We have not joined any coalition. There’s no directive yet from the NWC, and without that, no decision can be made,” Olaniyi stated. “We are committed to rescuing Nigeria from the current administration and presenting a formidable alternative.”
This stance comes after a meeting of opposition parties resolved to use the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform for 2027, with key figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and Nasir El-Rufai in attendance.
Olaniyi assured party members that the NWC would soon provide membership cards, registers, and other materials to strengthen party structures across the states.
Also speaking, Babatunde Omotayo, a serving SDP lawmaker in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, reaffirmed the party’s internal unity and resolve to move forward independently.

Attendees included state chairmen from Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo, along with the Deputy National Woman Leader, Bosede Mercy Ilesanmi.
