Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday paid a condolence visit to the Ejeh of Ibaji and Chairman of Ibaji Area Traditional Council, following the tragic boat accident that claimed several lives in the council area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor was represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu, assured the monarch and the community that the state government would not relent in its rescue efforts until all missing victims were accounted for.

In an earlier statement, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, confirmed that six more casualties had been recorded in addition to the 20 initially reported dead.
The Ejeh of Ibaji commended the governor for the visit, describing it as a sincere demonstration of concern and compassion for the people.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also commiserated with the government and people of Kogi State over the tragedy. The President extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of survivors.
The state government, in its initial reaction, expressed deep sadness over the mishap on the River Niger, pledging to intensify safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
