The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed deep gratitude to God for the life of his late mother, Nana Lydia Yilwatda, describing her as a woman of resilience and faith who lived through prolonged illness with remarkable strength.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during the burial ceremony held on Saturday in Jos, Plateau State, Yilwatda revealed that his mother lived on medication for 47 years but remained dedicated to her family and community service throughout her life.

“My mother worked round the clock despite her health challenges, always supporting us and rendering humanitarian assistance to those in need,” the APC Chairman said.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu and other dignitaries who attended the funeral for their support, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him as the party’s national leader.
Mrs. Yilwatda passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Jos University Teaching Hospital at the age of 83. Her passing was confirmed in a statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary in Plateau State, Shittu Bamaiyi, who described her as “a devoted Christian, a virtuous woman, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).”
“The APC in Plateau State received with shock the sad news of Mama Lydia’s death. Her passing is a personal loss to the National Chairman and to the entire APC family nationwide,” Bamaiyi said.

The statement further noted that Mama Lydia and her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, contributed immensely to the growth of the Church of Christ in Nations across Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and community leadership.
