EKO HOT BLOG reports that the committee, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, has highlighted key areas for amendment, including the creation of state police, power devolution, local government autonomy, and special seats for women in the legislature.
In recent weeks, the committee conducted a nationwide consultation across the six geopolitical zones to gather inputs from stakeholders. The final draft of the proposed amendments is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly by December 2025.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, the session will focus on major reform areas such as judicial and electoral reforms, independent candidacy, human rights, and justice.
The meeting will also give political parties the chance to share their insights and propose contributions to the ongoing review process.
Kalu described the engagement as a crucial platform for deepening democratic participation. He noted that political parties play a central role in shaping governance and must be involved in discussions that reflect the collective aspirations of Nigerians.

The statement added that a compendium of bills under consideration has been prepared to guide deliberations during the session.
