EKO HOT BLOG reports that the session was presided over by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, as Senate President Godswill Akpabio was notably absent during the opening proceedings.
According to reports from Channels Television, despite Akpabio’s absence, the plenary recorded a strong attendance, with most lawmakers present to resume full legislative business.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had faced suspension earlier in the year over alleged misconduct, was seen participating in the day’s proceedings, signaling her formal reinstatement to the upper chamber.
In a notable scene at the plenary, several senators arrived dressed in Palestinian-themed colors, in a gesture of solidarity with the people of Palestine amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The resumption marks a fresh start for the Senate as it prepares to deliberate on key legislative issues, including pending bills and committee reports carried over from the previous session.
