Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday celebrated the exceptional performance of Team Lagos at the just-concluded National Youth Games held in Asaba, Delta State, where the team emerged overall champions.

“Today, I had the pleasure of hosting Team Lagos, our incredible young athletes who shone brightly at the National Youth Games in Asaba. They brought home an impressive 110 medals 52 gold, 32 silver, and 26 bronze and emerged overall champions. Their dedication, discipline, and passion reflect the true Lagos spirit,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu commended the athletes, their coaches, and officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission for their commitment to nurturing young talent and maintaining the state’s reputation for sporting excellence.
He noted that the victory not only underscored Lagos’ dominance in youth sports but also demonstrated the success of the state’s continuous investment in sports development and youth empowerment.
“In Lagos, we don’t just show up, we stand out. I’m proud of these young champions for representing our state with excellence and pride,” Sanwo-Olu added.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure across the state, expanding opportunities for young athletes, and supporting their participation in both local and international competitions to produce future global champions.
