The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the endorsement was made on Sunday during an APC Stakeholders Meeting held at the State Banquet Hall, Government House, Asaba.

The gathering was attended by top party leaders, serving and former lawmakers, commissioners, and local government chairmen from across the state’s three senatorial districts. However, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege was notably absent.
The meeting followed months of internal tension within the party, especially after the defection of Governor Oborevwori, his predecessor Ifeanyi Okowa, and other members of the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in April 2025. The defection, which was described as a political realignment, had reportedly led to disputes over control of the party’s structures.
The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and seconded by the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei.

Keyamo commended President Tinubu’s leadership and reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said redirected national resources toward infrastructure and economic growth.
“Just two days ago, Mr President approved one billion dollars for the resuscitation of the Warri Port and other key national projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and the rebuilding of Lagos Airport. These are direct results of subsidy removal savings,” Keyamo said.
He also praised Governor Oborevwori for his developmental strides across Delta State, describing him as a visionary leader.
“I move that the Delta APC passes a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, adopting them as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections,” he declared.
The motion was unanimously adopted by the stakeholders. In his remarks, Victor Ochei hailed the inclusive governance style of both Tinubu and Oborevwori, describing their leadership as transformative and unifying.
Responding, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the vote of confidence, assuring the party of continued commitment to the state’s development agenda.
“I thank you for the confidence reposed in us and for accepting us as sole candidates for 2027. The APC is growing stronger by the day, and before the end of November, more governors will join us,” he said.
He commended President Tinubu for his leadership and fairness, describing him as “a man who rewards loyalty, commitment, and results.”
The governor, however, warned against disloyalty within the party, stating that some individuals who did not work for the APC during the last elections had unduly benefited from its success.
“Some in power today did not work for the APC, but we know them. When the time comes, we will expose them. This time, loyalty will be rewarded, not hypocrisy,” he stated.
Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa also spoke at the event, describing the April 2025 defection to the APC as a defining moment in Delta’s political history.
“Joining the APC was the right decision. The party is now stronger, more united, and better positioned for victory in 2027,” Okowa said.
In his welcome address, APC State Chairman Omeni Sobotie said the governor’s performance had made the party formidable and unbeatable.
“Anyone planning to contest against Governor Oborevwori will meet a brick wall,” Sobotie said confidently.
