- Presidential Jet Still Unsold Four Months After Federal Government Listing
- JetHQ confirmed the aircraft is still available but gave no further details.
- The sale is part of Tinubu’s cost-cutting and fleet reduction strategy.
Nearly four months after the Federal Government announced plans to sell the Presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet, the aircraft remains unsold.
This was confirmed through email exchanges between The Punch and JetHQ, the U.S.-based aviation marketing firm managing the sale. Responding to an inquiry, JetHQ’s Market Research Assistant, Marinell Nuevo, stated that the aircraft “remains available.”

EKO HOT BLOG reports that however, when pressed for more details, the firm’s Market Research Manager, Ms. Laurie Barringer, declined to comment, saying such information is only shared with the direct owner. “We do not provide this kind of information to anyone but the direct owner of the aircraft. The only data we can provide is that the aircraft remains available for sale,” she explained.
At press time, a follow-up email seeking accountability on behalf of Nigerian taxpayers who funded the jet’s purchase and maintenance had not received a response.
The Boeing 737-700 BBJ is currently managed by AMAC Aerospace, a Swiss aviation company overseeing its maintenance and marketing. According to the listing, the aircraft underwent major refurbishments at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including full refurbishment of the first-class seats, replacement of cabin carpets, and completion of major C1–C2 inspections.
The jet, which has “one owner since new and has always been hangared,” seats 33 passengers and eight crew members.

Aircraft valuation site Aircraft Cost Calculator pegs the average market value of a pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ at about $56 million, depending on specifications and maintenance records.
Originally acquired in 2005 during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration for $43 million, the aircraft has served in Nigeria’s Presidential Air Fleet. In July 2025, President Bola Tinubu’s administration listed it for sale as part of efforts to reduce costs and rationalise the presidential fleet.
