The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a major manhunt to rescue the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Bagudo, who was abducted by gunmen in Bagudo Local Government Area on Friday night.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that a combined team of police tactical units, military officers, and local vigilantes has been deployed to track down the kidnappers and ensure the lawmaker’s safe return.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi. He said the Deputy Speaker, popularly known as Bambu, was seized around 8:20 p.m. shortly after observing the Isha’i prayer near his residence in Bagudo town.
According to the police, the armed men stormed the area, shooting sporadically before whisking away the lawmaker to an unknown destination.
Abubakar noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, had ordered an immediate coordinated operation to pursue the attackers. “The joint team is currently combing the bandits’ routes and nearby forests with a view to rescuing the lawmaker unhurt and arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” he said.
He further appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with the police by providing useful information that could aid the rescue efforts.

As of the time of filing this report, the abductors had yet to make contact or state their demands, while the Kebbi State Government has not released any official statement regarding the abduction.
