Lagos is set to come alive once again as the Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF) returns for its 2025 edition, a week-long celebration of art, culture, and creativity scheduled to hold from November 10 to 16, 2025.
Eko Hot Blog reports that, according to the organisers, the globally recognised festival, regarded as Africa’s premier international theatre event, will transform Lagos into a creative hub showcasing stage performances, cross-cultural dialogue, and artistic innovation.

The festival will feature 20 theatrical productions across five venues, with participation from Nigeria, South Africa, and the United States.

Beyond performances, the festival’s programme includes masterclasses, networking sessions, live music, street theatre, and creative markets, reaffirming LITF’s place as one of Africa’s most dynamic cultural gatherings.
Highlights of this year’s edition include Theatre Meets Food on November 10 at Kaly Restaurant — a fusion of dining, cocktails, and performance; and LITF x U.S. Embassy Night on November 12, featuring short plays and cultural exchanges at CG Residence.
On November 13, Conversations & Culture at Terra Kulture will host industry experts such as Aubrey Sekhabi, Valerie Green, Professors Segun Ojewuyi and Jaemin Park, and Bolanle Austen-Peters, who will also headline Director’s Night at the British Consulate later that day.

Speaking ahead of the event, Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of LITF and Terra Kulture, said the festival “goes beyond performances—it fosters creative collaboration and cultural diplomacy, positioning Lagos as a global stage for African storytelling.”
The Opening Night Gala will take place on November 14 at the MUSON Centre, followed by two days of live theatre, workshops, and exhibitions, concluding with a grand finale on November 16.
Festival Director Vanessa Jev added that LITF 2025 “reflects the energy and ambition of a new generation of African creatives redefining global theatre.”
