The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed social media reports claiming that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by terrorists.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, described the viral post as false, malicious, and intended to cause panic and religious tension among residents.

Nguroje said the misleading report, credited to a Facebook user identified as “Lionman Lioni,” was completely unfounded and should be disregarded.
He confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had reviewed the matter and affirmed that no such incident occurred anywhere in Adamawa State.
“The Command wishes to inform the public that the report is fake and baseless. No CAN chairman or any religious leader has been beheaded in Adamawa State,” the statement read in part.

The police urged residents to verify information from credible sources before sharing it on social media, noting that such falsehoods could incite unnecessary fear and division.
Nguroje also revealed that an investigation has been launched to identify and prosecute those behind the misleading publication.
Recall that a Facebook user named Lionman Lioni had earlier claimed that the Adamawa CAN chairman was beheaded by Fulani terrorists, a post that has since gone viral before being debunked by the police.
