Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested twenty one students of Ogioma Public Secondary School in Benin City for suspected involvement in cult related activities.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, disclosed in a statement that the students, aged between 14 and 17, were apprehended after a foiled attack on Osemwende Public Secondary School located at Oghoghibi off the Benin Sapele Road.

According to the police, intelligence reports revealed that the students stormed the premises of Osemwende Public Secondary School in a convoy of motorcycles to allegedly carry out violent acts before they were intercepted by operatives attached to the Loveworld Division.
Yamu said the swift action of the Divisional Police Officer and his team led to the arrest of 21 of the invading students. Four knives and a chain were recovered from them.
A preliminary investigation showed that the suspects had earlier circulated a threat voice note in which they boasted of plans to wage a war, destroy the school, and harm students and staff.

The police have invited the principals of both schools for further questioning. The arrested students have been arraigned in court. Eight were remanded while thirteen were released to their parents and guardians who must produce them in court on twenty eight November twenty twenty five.
The Commissioner of Police for Edo State Monday Agbonika urged parents and guardians to pay closer attention to the activities and peer groups of their children.
He also encouraged school authorities to strengthen discipline, report suspicious activities promptly, and work closely with the police to curb juvenile delinquency.
He assured the public that the command remains committed to safeguarding schools and keeping all residents safe under the Nigeria Police Force Safe Schools Initiative.
