The controversy intensified when her mother released videos on November 16, accusing Imisi of neglect and complaining about her living conditions despite the N150 million prize, insisting she would never beg her daughter for help.
Reacting in a statement posted on Instagram, Imisi revealed that her mother had been distant long before BBNaija and would go years without reaching out.
According to her, the sudden online outburst was unexpected because their relationship had always been troubled.
She maintained that she had extended support multiple times and even sent money just days before the videos appeared. Imisi further stressed that her winnings could not be allocated solely to one individual when several family members rely on her.
In her words, “Before BBNaija, you wouldn’t call me for one or two years, so why is this an issue now? God knows I have tried. I sent you money last week and again four days ago. Will I kill myself?
“I cannot take N1 from my win for anybody’s personal comfort. I have over 100 family members depending on me alone. You were nowhere to be found when I was going through the toughest periods of my life.”
