EKO HOT BLOG reports that sources close to both camps told The Cable that the infiltration occurred within the past week. While Otedola’s phone was compromised once, Dangote’s device was reportedly hacked twice in two days, with the attackers allegedly demanding money from the two billionaires.
An insider familiar with the situation confirmed the development, saying, “The hackers are asking for money from both men.” It remains unclear whether Dangote and Otedola have regained full control of their devices.
Both men share a long-running personal and business relationship, often referring to each other as “brothers”. Otedola was present when Dangote recently announced plans to expand the capacity of his refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day.
Praising his long-time associate, Otedola described Dangote as “Africa’s pride”, emphasising that the industrialist’s investment footprint would continue to shape the continent’s future. He said, “Aliko’s relentless commitment to investing in Nigeria and Africa will outlive him as these are legacy investments that will define generations. Soon, Nigerians will own part of this refinery, a powerful reminder that this vision is not just for Dangote, but for all Nigerians and Africans.”

Otedola, author of the best-selling book ‘Making It Big’, recently increased his stake in First HoldCo Plc after acquiring 64.87 million shares valued at N2.01 billion, further strengthening his influence in the financial services group.
