Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed why his success at Arsenal is due to his “idol” Pep Guardiola.
Eko Hot Blog reprots that Arteta served as Guardiola’s assistant coach at Manchester City after retiring from professional football in 2016, before his first head coaching position with the Gunners in December 2019.

The relationship between the Managers began in 1997 when the Gunners boss manager enrolled in Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy.
He spent two years in the Blaugrana’s youth system before playing for Barcelona B for three years, from 1999 to 2002. Meanwhile, during Arteta’s time in the academy, Guardiola was an important member of the senior team.
The Arsenal Manager recounted Guardiola’s influence on him, describing the Manchester City gaffer as his hero. “Someone that I met when I was fifteen years old.”

As a player, he was my hero. In the end, we collaborate and have one of the most amazing experiences of my life. And once again, I owe him a great deal if I’m seated in this chair right now.” He explained.
Also speaking on why he joined Guardiola at City, Arteta confessed he was drawn to his philosophy and teaching style, developed during their time in Barcelona.
“Probably because, how attached we were in terms of philosophy and the way we were educated in Barcelona.
Then, because I think it was the right thing for me to step out of the club, to learn from other people, to have different kinds of experiences. And he gave me the choice without coaching anybody to go straight to his coaching staff. One of the best decisions I made in my life.” He added.
