Adeleke said the leadership turmoil has made it difficult to continue as a member, despite the opportunities the PDP provided him as a senator and as the current governor of Osun State.
His exit comes amid earlier indications from the state PDP that he might not seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless internal disputes were resolved.

Party officials had previously hoped that a resolution recognised by INEC could persuade him to remain, but the persistent conflict appears to have influenced the Governor’s final decision.
The PDP noted that Adeleke’s stance could still change if the leadership crisis is resolved within the electoral timetable for the next Osun governorship poll.
