EKO HOT BLOG reports that Oshodi spoke during an interview on Arise News’ The Morning Show on Tuesday, where he highlighted the rigorous process each nominee must pass.
He noted that the Senate will conduct its own vetting, while the Department of State Services will also carry out background checks. In addition, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission will assess the nominees, and the countries where they are expected to serve will decide whether to accept or reject their accreditation.
Oshodi said the screening stages are standard procedures meant to ensure that only competent and credible individuals represent Nigeria abroad. He expressed confidence that the Senate would ask the right questions and carry out a thorough evaluation of all nominees.
He added that foreign nations have the authority to conduct their own review before giving final approval, stressing that the entire process is designed to protect Nigeria’s diplomatic interests.
Oshodi said Nigeria needs ambassadors in place to advance the country’s economic, cultural and security objectives. He emphasised that getting qualified individuals on station as quickly as possible is crucial for effective foreign representation.

President Tinubu recently forwarded a fresh list of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
