The Royal Union of Owu People has successfully staged the 2025 edition of the prestigious Omidan Owu Beauty Pageant, a major cultural highlight of the Owu National Convention themed Preserving Yoruba Culture and Promoting Owu Heritage.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the event brought together royal fathers, dignitaries, cultural custodians, youth leaders, and delegates from Owu communities across Nigeria, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with tradition, elegance, and deep communal pride.
Held to showcase the beauty, intelligence, and cultural depth of Owu daughters, the competition featured contestants from various Owu-bearing towns, including Owu-Ikosi, Owu-Gbawbojo, Owu-Igbooye, Orile-Owu, Owu-Ibadan, Owu-Igbotele, and others.
Each contestant graced the stage through multiple performance categories such as cultural interpretation, traditional attire, talent display, and question-and-answer sessions.
After an intense and exciting contest, 18-year-old Omidan Khadijat Adekanmi Yusuff, representing Owu-Obaloyan, emerged as the 2025 Omidan Owu Queen, winning the judges over with her poise, cultural knowledge, and confident stage presence.
Delivering his remarks, an official of the Royal Union praised the event’s significance, stating,
“This pageant is a celebration of our daughters,of their beauty, intellect, and the rich values that bind the Owu nation together.”
He further emphasized the continued relevance of cultural preservation, noting, “At a time when modernization is sweeping across communities, gatherings like this help us keep our roots alive.”
The Chief Judge lauded the contestants for their outstanding performances, saying,
“Every young woman who stood on this stage represented her community with pride. Their depth, confidence, and creativity made this year’s edition highly competitive.”
In her first remarks as queen, Omidan Khadijat expressed heartfelt appreciation, saying, “I am deeply honoured and humbled. Representing Owu-Obaloyan and now the entire Owu nation is a privilege.
I will use this platform to promote cultural awareness and motivate young girls to embrace our heritage.”
The audience,comprising traditional rulers, elders, youth representatives, and cultural enthusiasts,cheered enthusiastically throughout the evening.
Cultural troupes added colour with energetic drumming, dancing, and chants celebrating Owu ancestry.
The event also served as a reunion for many Owu descendants who travelled from far and near to be part of the convention.

The 2025 Omidan Owu Pageant ended on a joyous note, marking yet another milestone in strengthening cultural identity, promoting unity, and empowering young Owu women to become ambassadors of tradition and excellence.
