The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate believed to be responsible for several abductions across parts of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspect, identified as Aliu Abubakar, was picked up on Friday, December 3, at the Oro-Ago Motor Park in Ifelodun Local Government Area after community members alerted authorities to his suspicious movements.
According to police sources, Abubakar initially claimed he was travelling to visit a relative, but inconsistencies in his account prompted officers to search his mobile phone.
The device allegedly contained photographs of Abubakar armed with a rifle and posing alongside other gunmen. Investigators also found images of large bundles of cash, believed to be proceeds of ransom collected from victims.
During interrogation, Abubakar reportedly confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations and confirmed that the money displayed in the photos had been shared among members of the gang.

In a follow-up operation, police intercepted a courier linked to the same group along the Gbugbu–Patigi road. Officers recovered 100 rounds of live ammunition reportedly destined for the kidnappers hiding in the forest.
The Kwara State Police Command said investigations are ongoing and assured that more arrests are expected as efforts to dismantle the network continue.
