The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command recently arrested 116 suspects in a sustained, coordinated operation to combat illicit drug activities in Abuja. Police officers from the Anti-Narcotics Section conducted several raids on identified “black spots” across the capital city between August 1 and August 21, 2025.
According to reports from Eko Hot Blog, the raids covered several districts, including Asokoro, Trademore, Mpape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi. During the operations, police recovered various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh announced that after a thorough screening, authorities released 89 of the suspects. They charged the remaining 27 individuals in court for offenses that included public nuisance and possession of illicit drugs and substances.

The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, praised the operatives for their efforts and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring a safe and drug-free capital city. He also urged residents to remain law-abiding, avoid drug abuse and trafficking, and support ongoing security efforts.
