The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a strong warning to Nigerians over visa-related fraud, stressing that falsifying information or submitting forged documents could lead to lifetime travel restrictions under US immigration laws.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the advisory was shared on Monday via the embassy’s official X account, where it cautioned applicants that dishonesty during visa processing carries permanent consequences.

According to the embassy, individuals found guilty of misrepresentation or document falsification risk being barred indefinitely from entering the United States, adding that such bans are not temporary or negotiable.

The warning came on the same day US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, met with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, to review areas of bilateral cooperation and shared priorities between both countries.
The embassy reiterated Washington’s commitment to continued engagement with Nigeria on matters of mutual interest, including governance, security and people-to-people relations.

The development also comes amid heightened diplomatic focus on Nigeria’s internal security challenges.
In recent months, some US lawmakers have raised concerns about persistent attacks on communities in parts of the country, particularly in the North and Middle Belt, urging closer collaboration to safeguard vulnerable populations.
