EKO HOT BLOG reports that a Consultant on Communications and Strategy to the Senate President, Kenny Okolugbo, described the report as false when contacted on Monday.
Responding to enquiries over the claims, Okolugbo told Daily Post, “It’s a lie, fake news,” without offering further details.
The denial followed a report published by Sahara Reporters which alleged that Akpabio collapsed on December 10 and was flown to London in a private jet reportedly provided by businessman Aliko Dangote.
The report further claimed that the Senate President is currently receiving medical care abroad and has been absent from official duties, including the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper session held last Wednesday.
Akpabio’s absence from the key legislative session, which focused on Nigeria’s fiscal planning, was noted as Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi reportedly presided in his stead.
A National Assembly source quoted in the report said, “He has already missed today’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework presentation.”

The source also alleged that it was “the second time he is being rushed to London for treatment,” raising questions about Akpabio’s health and his capacity to effectively lead the 10th Senate.
As of the time of filing this report, the Senate leadership has not issued any official statement beyond Okolugbo’s dismissal of the claims.
