- Trouble Amidst Allegations: Dangote Claims NMDPRA Boss Farouk Ahmed Spent $5 Million on Children’s Education
- Dangote described the act as an act of “economic sabotage and corruption”
- Dangote claimed that university tuition and related expenses averaged $125,000 per year per child
Billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has released detailed allegations claiming that Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), spent approximately $5 million on the Swiss education of his children.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a paid newspaper advertisement published on Tuesday, Dangote stated that the funds covered the secondary education of four of Ahmed’s children over a six-year period.

The disclosure escalates a public dispute that Dangote first raised earlier this week, which he described as an act of “economic sabotage and corruption.”
Dangote named the children as Faisal Farouk, Farouk Jr., Ashraf Farouk, and Farhana Farouk, listing the schools allegedly attended, including Aiglon College, Institut Le Rosey, Montreux School, and La Garenne International School.
According to Dangote’s breakdown, tuition, living expenses, airfare, and upkeep averaged about $200,000 per child annually, totaling $800,000 per year for all four children. Over six years, he estimated that the total cost of their secondary education, including living expenses and travel, reached roughly $5 million.

The allegations also extend to tertiary education. Dangote claimed that university tuition and related expenses averaged $125,000 per year per child, totaling $500,000 per child or $2 million for all four children. He further alleged that Faisal Farouk completed an MBA at Harvard University in 2025, costing $150,000 for tuition and $60,000 for living and travel, totaling $210,000 for that year alone.
Dangote argued that Nigerians deserve transparency regarding the source of these funds, noting the contrast with Ahmed’s home state of Sokoto, where many parents struggle to afford school fees as low as ₦10,000, leaving numerous children out of school.
As of the time of filing, Farouk Ahmed has not responded publicly to the allegations.
