Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reacted with sadness to the death of former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, saying the state has lost one of its prominent political figures.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor, in a condolence statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, described the late senator as a distinguished son of Delta State and a fearless advocate of the Anioma people whose impact on public life would not be forgotten.

Oborevwori reflected on Nwaoboshi’s time in the National Assembly, where he played a key role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, noting that his consistent push for development in the Niger Delta and Delta State marked him out as a dedicated public servant.

The governor also highlighted the late lawmaker’s long-standing political career, which he said was rooted in experience, commitment, and service to democratic ideals.
He recalled that Nwaoboshi served twice as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, a role in which he demonstrated leadership and loyalty to party growth.
According to Oborevwori, the former senator devoted his life to serving his constituents and the nation, leaving behind a record defined by courage, perseverance, and dedication to the public good.

The governor said the loss was deeply personal and extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased, the Anioma nation, party members, and all those affected by his passing.
