Joy filled the maternity ward of General Hospital, Ijede, in the early hours of Christmas Day as three healthy baby boys were delivered, marking a heartwarming start to the celebration for families and healthcare workers.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, through his representative, the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Health Service Commission (HSC), Pharm. Bakare Modupe, congratulated the mothers of the Christmas babies and presented gift items to the newborns.

Gifts were also extended to in-patients at the hospital, a gesture she said reflects the Lagos State Government’s strong commitment to maternal and child welfare.
Pharm. Bakare praised the hospital’s management and staff for maintaining clean, orderly, and well-structured wards, describing the environment as a clear indication of effective leadership and a dedicated workforce. She encouraged healthcare workers to embrace the spirit of giving, noting that Christmas is a season for spreading joy and putting smiles on people’s faces.
The first Christmas baby, Okiki Omobolanle, a male, was delivered via Caesarean Section at exactly 12:45 a.m., weighing 2.8 kg. He was followed by another baby boy, Akingbile Damilola, also delivered through Caesarean Section at 2:30 a.m., weighing 4 kg. The third Christmas baby, Sanni Nusirat, was delivered through spontaneous vaginal delivery at 3:00 a.m., weighing 3 kg.

The celebration added warmth to the festive season at the hospital, reinforcing the state government’s focus on quality healthcare and support for mothers and newborns.
