The village, which had previously served as a hideout for bandits, was found destroyed and abandoned on arrival.
The source said the troops extended their operation to a nearby river line, where they intercepted three women and two children. Preliminary interrogation revealed that the rescued individuals were victims of the Ayetoro Kiri kidnap incident.
During further search of the area, the soldiers discovered two decomposing bodies suspected to belong to abducted persons. One of the corpses was recovered, while efforts were ongoing to evacuate the remaining remains.
The rescued victims were taken to Fisayo Hospital in Obajana for medical treatment, while the deceased woman was deposited at St. Joseph Mortuary in Kabba.

The source added that questioning of the rescued victims was ongoing to assist security operatives in locating other abductees still in captivity. Although the situation in the area was described as calm, it remains unpredictable.
He assured that troops’ morale and operational efficiency remain high as efforts continue to rescue the remaining victims and restore security in the area.
