Venezuela has accused the United States of carrying out coordinated attacks on civilian and military targets after multiple explosions rocked the capital, Caracas, in the early hours of Saturday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a worded statement, the Venezuelan government described the incident as an “extremely serious act of military aggression” and warned that Washington’s actions could plunge Latin America into widespread instability.

The government called on citizens to mobilise against what it described as imperialist aggression, urging nationwide resistance to the alleged assault.
“The entire country must mobilise to defeat this imperialist aggression,” the statement read.
Explosions and the sound of low-flying aircraft were reported across Caracas shortly before dawn. Venezuelan authorities confirmed that, in addition to the capital, attacks were recorded in Miranda, La Guaira and Aragua states.
According to the government, the alleged strikes targeted strategic locations, with smoke reportedly seen rising from key military installations, including the La Carlota military airfield and the Fuerte Tiuna military base. An airport in Higuerote, east of Caracas, was also said to have come under attack.
The Venezuelan government claimed the objective of the attacks was to seize control of the country’s strategic resources, particularly oil and mineral reserves, and called on the international community to condemn what it termed a violation of international law that endangered millions of lives.

US media outlets reported that former President Donald Trump had authorised the strikes, including attacks on military facilities. However, the White House and the Pentagon had yet to respond to requests for comment as of press time.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro also weighed in on the situation, stating on social media that Caracas was being bombed and calling for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
Eyewitnesses told international media that at least seven explosions were heard around 2.00 a.m. local time, prompting residents in several neighbourhoods to flee their homes in panic.
“The whole ground shook. We heard explosions and planes in the distance,” said Carmen Hidalgo, a 21-year-old office worker.
The alleged strikes come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Caracas following months of increased US pressure on President Nicolás Maduro’s government. Since August, the United States has expanded sanctions, increased its military presence near Venezuela’s coast and carried out multiple air and maritime operations targeting vessels accused of drug trafficking.
Analysts believe the intensified pressure campaign is aimed at forcing political change in Venezuela, a move that has drawn criticism from regional leaders and international observers.
The situation remains fluid, with developments expected as official responses emerge from both governments.
