Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) under Desert Sanity V have neutralised eight Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, while 11 others surrendered with their weapons during coordinated military operations in Borno State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the OPHK Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Maiduguri. He said the operations were carried out along the Azir–Wajiroko axis as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-East.

According to Uba, troops on January 9, 2026, conducted an extensive clearance operation in the Bulaagalda cluster, targeting multiple active terrorist enclaves. Camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile were destroyed, alongside the dismantling of the Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps.
He said the troops also destroyed key life-support and logistics structures used by the insurgents, significantly degrading their operational capacity. Items recovered during the operation included terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba added that similar offensive operations were conducted in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas, forcing several terrorists to flee in disarray. These actions resulted in the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG).
In a separate operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged insurgents along the Sojiri–Kayamla axis, where eight terrorists were neutralised during a four-hour encounter. An unspecified number of AK-47 rifles were recovered during the engagements across both axes.
The military also arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area. The suspects are believed to have been supplying logistical support to insurgents operating around the Lake Chad region.
Uba said troops remain committed to sustaining offensive pressure against terrorist networks, stressing that the objective is to restore lasting peace and security across the North-East.
