The governor said the coming months would test the judgment of voters, noting that political ambition often fuels promises that are difficult or impossible to fulfil.

He encouraged the electorate to evaluate aspirants based on credibility, track record and capacity to deliver meaningful governance.
Makinde expressed confidence in the performance of his administration, adding that the foundation already laid in Oyo State would ensure continuity beyond his tenure.
He stated that residents should expect governance stability, hinting that someone within his political team would emerge to sustain his development agenda after 2027.
Beyond politics, the governor raised concerns about security challenges in the state, calling on residents to be proactive and alert.
He described security as a shared responsibility and urged citizens to report suspicious movements or activities to relevant authorities, especially following recent incidents around the Old Oyo National Park.
On workers’ welfare, Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the civil service, highlighting the clearance of long-standing promotion arrears inherited from previous governments.
He assured workers that promotions would continue to be conducted annually, disclosing that approvals for the 2025 promotion exercise were already underway.

The governor also revealed that discussions were ongoing regarding the review of emoluments for Heads of Local Government Administration, expressing optimism that the matter would be resolved before the end of January.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, praised Makinde’s consistency in prioritising workers’ welfare, citing regular salary payments, increased gratuity disbursements, staff training, civil service reforms and sustained industrial harmony.
Other speakers at the event, including representatives of the legislature, judiciary and labour unions, commended the governor’s support for governance institutions and workers’ rights, describing his administration as a benchmark for future governments in Oyo State.
The interfaith gathering drew a large turnout of political leaders, traditional rulers, labour representatives and senior government officials, reflecting broad support for the governor’s message as the state gradually moves into a new political era.
