EKO HOT BLOG reports that Akpabio made the statement on Wednesday night after leading Senator Agom Jarigbe (Cross River North) and Senator Kaila Samaila (Bauchi North) to a meeting with President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja. Both lawmakers recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Akpabio said the senators’ defection was motivated by Tinubu’s economic reforms and his focus on national development. He added that the lawmakers’ decision was not driven by political gain but by their desire to contribute to rebuilding Nigeria.
According to him, “They are Mr President’s children and his supporters. The President is the father of the nation and all political parties. They joined the Senate on different platforms, but because of the President’s transformative economic policies and improved revenue generation, they decided to join the APC to help build Nigeria.”
Akpabio described the move as an act of patriotism, stating, “They are not concerned about which party holds power but about who can lead Nigeria effectively and put food on the tables of citizens.”

In his remarks, Senator Jarigbe said his decision to defect was based on conviction, adding that Tinubu’s performance and reforms convinced him to align with the ruling party. “I joined the APC because the President is doing well, and I want to support him in delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.
