Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has declared that his team is fully focused on securing a podium finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as they prepare to face Nigeria in the third place match on Saturday.
The Pharaohs will clash with the Super Eagles at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, with kick off scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Egypt come into the encounter determined to bounce back from their narrow 1 0 defeat to Senegal in Tuesday’s semi final. Speaking at his pre match press conference, Hassan said his players are motivated to finish the tournament strongly.
“We will fight for victory tomorrow to get on the podium and close the AFCON on a positive note,” the veteran coach said.
Hassan stressed that despite the disappointment of missing out on the final, his team remains mentally strong and ready to give everything against Nigeria.
Egypt winger Mahmoud Hassan, popularly known as Trezeguet, also expressed confidence ahead of the encounter, describing the Super Eagles as a strong side while insisting that the Pharaohs are focused on winning.
“Nigeria has a good team with great players but we are fully focused on winning and finishing the AFCON with a positive result,” Trezeguet stated.
The third place match comes just days after Egypt edged Nigeria 1 0 in a friendly encounter shortly before the start of the tournament, a result that adds extra edge to Saturday’s clash.
Nigeria will be aiming to end their AFCON campaign on a positive note after falling short in the semi finals, while Egypt see the match as an opportunity to secure a medal and restore pride.

Meanwhile, hosts Morocco will face Senegal in the AFCON final at 8pm on Sunday, January 18, as both sides battle for continental glory.
The third place playoff is expected to be keenly contested, with both teams seeking a strong finish to their AFCON journey.
