Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed confidence that whoever succeeds him in 2031 will outperform him, stating that his administration is laying a strong and irreversible foundation for the long-term development of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor made the remark on Sunday during a special thanksgiving and ground reception organised in his honour by the Assemblies of God Church, Okaiuga–Nkwoegwu, in Umuahia North Local Government Area.

Otti said his government is still at an early stage, noting that the real phase of accelerated development for Abia State has only just begun. According to him, the state has moved past years of stagnation and limitation.

He told the congregation that his administration has broken what he described as the cycle that held Abia back for years, adding that there would be no return to the old order.
“We are just getting started. We are not even three years in yet. You can imagine where Abia will be by 2031,” the governor said, stressing that the period ahead marks a decisive era of aggressive growth for the state.
Otti added that the progress recorded so far has repositioned Abia on a new path, insisting that the gains already made would only deepen with time.
The governor also attributed his emergence and achievements to divine timing, saying that human efforts alone cannot override God’s purpose.

Quoting from the Book of Psalms, Otti said power ultimately belongs to God, adding that when the time is right, divine purpose prevails regardless of opposition or delay.
Responding to requests made by the church leadership, the governor announced that a Hummer bus for evangelism would be delivered to the church within the week, courtesy of Prince Dr Arthur Eze.
He also directed his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, to engage with the church leadership to work out arrangements for the allocation of land for a proposed prayer camp.
Otti thanked churches across the state for their prayers and support, while appreciating the Assemblies of God Church for organising the reception in his honour.
Earlier, the District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Jerusalem District, Rev. Dr Kenneth Ogbudu, described the event as historic, praising Otti’s leadership style and impact on governance in Abia State.
Ogbudu said the governor’s administration represents a clear break from the past, noting that governance under Otti has been defined by competence, transparency, accountability and visible results.
He said decades-abandoned roads have been reconstructed and reopened, reconnecting communities, improving mobility and stimulating economic activities across the state.
According to him, the renewal of critical infrastructure in Aba and other parts of Abia has restored investor confidence and repositioned the state as a credible destination for business.

The cleric also commended the administration’s fiscal discipline, noting that salaries and pensions are now paid promptly, restoring dignity to workers and retirees.
He added that the Otti administration has shown uncommon resolve in institutional reforms, insisting that public office must serve the people rather than personal interests.
The reception was attended by the governor’s wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti; the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha; the Deputy Speaker and other members of the Abia State House of Assembly; members of the State Executive Council; senior government officials; and church leaders.
