Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, assuring residents that his administration will implement the budget with transparency and accountability.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” was assented to on Monday, days after the Lagos State House of Assembly approved a total expenditure of about N4.4 trillion, an increase from the N4.2 trillion proposal presented by the governor in December.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Sanwo-Olu described the 2026 budget as the final full-year budget of his administration, expressing optimism that Lagos residents would derive maximum benefits from its execution.
The governor commended the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, and other lawmakers for what he described as thorough legislative scrutiny, adding that sustained collaboration between the executive and legislature remains critical to effective governance in the state.
Representing the Speaker, the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Noheem Adams, praised the governor’s people-focused policies, noting that the budget underwent rigorous examination by lawmakers. He said the appropriation reflects prevailing economic realities and is designed to serve the interests of Lagosians.
