Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, has donated five walkie-talkie communication devices to the Ilara Security Team. The presentation ceremon took place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the institution’s Senate Chamber.
Ekohotblog reports that the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Christopher Odetunde, who led the university management during the symbolic handover, emphasized that the gesture aligns with the school’s ongoing corporate social responsibility and dedication to the well-being of its host community.

“This donation reflects our deep commitment to the safety and progress of Ilara. We see ourselves not just as an academic institution but as stakeholders in the development and protection of our surrounding community,” Professor Odetunde remarked.
“These walkie-talkies will significantly enhance the capacity of the local security team to coordinate efforts, especially in emergencies.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, Comrade Abdulrasaq Talabi, Chairman of the Community Development Association (CDA) of Ilara and Head of the Ilara Security Team, expressed profound gratitude.
“This is a timely and commendable contribution from Augustine University. It shows that the university is not just here to educate, but also to support and uplift its environment,” said Comrade Talabi.
“These gadgets will greatly improve our communication network during patrols, surveillance, and emergency response operations.”

The presentation event was also graced by other principal officers of the university, including Registrar Mrs. Margaret Aziba, Acting Bursar Mrs. Mary Ajibulu, Senior Assistant Registrar Miss Agatha Ajuka, and the University’s Public Relations Officer, Miss Moyinoluwa Ajayi.
