Rolling Stone recently named IShowSpeed the Most Influential Creator of 2025, while Forbes estimates his net worth at about $20 million, underscoring his growing global influence beyond streaming and gaming.

In Lagos, his first stop was the ever-busy Balogun Market on Lagos Island, where traders and passersby surrounded him, shouting comments and asking for money. Visibly overwhelmed, the YouTuber, flanked by bodyguards, remarked that the language sounded like English “but a different kind,” before making a quick exit.
He later visited Freedom Park, a historic site built on a former colonial-era prison, where he sampled Nigerian jollof rice for the first time and reacted to its spicy kick. From there, he proceeded to the popular Nike Art Gallery, a regular destination for visiting celebrities and top political figures.
Speaking at Freedom Park, a Lagos-based YouTuber, Stephen Oluwafisayomi, also known as Stevosky, said IShowSpeed’s visit was helping to spotlight African culture.

He noted that the streamer was exposing global audiences to local food, relationships and cultural differences, while encouraging Americans to see Africa as a place worth visiting.
At about 6:00 pm, while moving through the city with his security team, IShowSpeed paused by the roadside to watch his channel cross the 50-million-subscriber mark. He celebrated the moment by cutting his birthday cake and playfully burying his face in it, to the cheers of fans.

Another observer, 18-year-old student Karim Jari, said that while the YouTuber sometimes highlighted negative aspects of countries he visited, such portrayals could inspire people to contribute positively, whether through business ideas, fundraising or community support.
The Lagos visit came a day after IShowSpeed was in Dakar, Senegal, where he joined fans in celebrating the country’s Africa Cup of Nations victory.

Born in Cincinnati, United States, IShowSpeed rose to prominence nearly a decade ago through video game content before expanding into travel and lifestyle streaming.
His African tour has featured headline-grabbing moments, including racing a cheetah in South Africa, playing football with over 100 children in Angola, visiting the Maasai community in Kenya and attending the AFCON final in Morocco.
