The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening tourism and cultural development with an inspection tour of key creative hubs across the state, as part of efforts to further grow the creative economy and preserve indigenous heritage.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, alongside the Director of Research and Development at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Frank Legunsen, and other senior officials, visited the Lekki Arts and Crafts Market and Spotlight, Victoria Island, on Tuesday, February 4, 2026.

The visit was aimed at assessing existing cultural assets, engaging directly with artisans and creative entrepreneurs, and identifying practical opportunities to strengthen government support for the sector.
Officials interacted with artists, craftsmen, and traders, gaining firsthand insight into their operations, challenges, and growth potential.
Mr. Aregbe noted that the inspection exercise underscores the state government’s resolve to harness the creative industry as a critical driver of economic diversification, job creation, and youth empowerment.
He emphasized that tourism and culture remain key pillars of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s development agenda.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its determination to position Lagos as Africa’s tourism hub and a globally recognised destination for arts and culture.
With Lagos ranked among the world’s notable art destinations, the administration continues to prioritise policies and initiatives that empower artisans, promote cultural expression, and enhance global visibility for the state’s rich heritage.
The inspection tour further reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to build a sustainable creative ecosystem that supports innovation, preserves tradition, and contributes meaningfully to the state’s economic growth.
