Eko Hot Blog reports that the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has appointed His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, as the 6th Chancellor of the University.
The appointment follows the completion of the tenure of Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who served as the 5th Chancellor of the institution.
The State Government and the University community commended him for his meritorious service and dignified representation of the University during his tenure.
According to the statement, the appointment was made pursuant to the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (as amended), which empowers the Visitor to appoint the Chancellor of the University.
Oba Ogunsanwo’s appointment is for a single term of five years, effective from Friday, February 13, 2026, and is renewable once.
The Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor congratulated the new Chancellor on his appointment and expressed optimism that his leadership would further advance the vision and mission of Lagos State University.
