It was a grand and emotional gathering at Education District III, Falomo, as Mr. Segun Osinaike marked his 60th birthday alongside his statutory retirement from the Lagos State Public Service, bringing to a close a distinguished career marked by dedication, discipline, and impactful leadership.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the event attracted a high-profile audience comprising political leaders, top government officials, education stakeholders, royal fathers, professional bodies, and well-wishers from within and beyond Lagos State. The atmosphere was filled with admiration and heartfelt tributes, reflecting the immense respect Osinaike has earned over the years.
Among dignitaries present were Hon. Abiodun Mustain Tobun and Hon. Oladele Ajayi (Olads) of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Shuaheeb Agoro, and the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun. Also in attendance were local government chairmen, members of the Teaching Service Commission, SUBEB officials, and members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, both serving and retired.
Speaking during an interview, the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Shuaheeb Agoro, described Osinaike as a rare blend of leadership and mentorship, emphasizing his influence in shaping future leaders within the public service.
“Segun Osinaike is a very hardworking man, a good leader that carries everyone along,” he said.
“Under his administration, four people rose to Tutor General and Permanent Secretary, which clearly shows that he is not just a leader but a mentor who is committed to the growth and progress of his younger colleagues.”
“I sincerely wish Lagos State will consider offering him another appointment because he is a brilliant man who still has a lot to contribute to the development of the state,” Agoro added.
Also lending his voice, Hon. Abiodun Mustain Tobun, representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, praised Osinaike’s commitment to the growth of education in Lagos State.
“Prince Osinaike Olusegun is a very dedicated man who has contributed immensely to the development of education in our state,” he noted.
“Now that he has retired, I would encourage him to fully join politics because he still has a lot to offer his community and the state at large,” Tobun said.
In a nostalgic reflection, Mr. Adebayo, retired Director of Special Education, shared personal experiences from their time at Government College Ketu, highlighting Osinaike’s character beyond official duties.
“We shared memorable experiences at Government College Ketu, and throughout that period, he proved himself as a good brother, a dependable friend, and a supportive colleague,” he said.
“I pray that God grants him long life, good health, and continued fulfillment in this new phase of life.”
Other top education administrators, including Mrs. Yusuf, Tutor General/Permanent Secretary, Education District VI, Mr. Paseda of Education District IV, and several other TG/PS across districts, also took turns to commend Osinaike’s leadership style, praying for a peaceful, healthy, and impactful retirement.
The presence of royal fathers, high chiefs, and members of the Oloja in Council added cultural significance to the occasion, as they offered royal blessings and prayers for the celebrant.
Professional associations and organizations such as the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), ANCOPSS, ARPSON, Lagos State Public Service Club (Mother Club and Epe Annex), Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), NASU, EDFA, various NGOs, as well as sports groups including Epe Referees and Coaches and the Epe Football Supporters Club, were also well represented.
In his remarks, Osinaike expressed deep appreciation to God and all attendees for making the occasion memorable, reflecting on his journey in public service with gratitude.
“As I celebrate my 60th birthday and statutory retirement from the Lagos State Public Service, my heart is full of gratitude to God and to everyone who made the occasion memorable,” he said.
He paid special tribute to his family, particularly his wife, Mrs. Esther Ibidunni Osinaike, children, in-laws, and extended family members, including the Agbonmagbe Royal Dynasty, for their unwavering support throughout his career.
“I must specially thank my wife for her perseverance, my children, and all family members for their love, patience, and sacrifices over the years,” he stated.
He also acknowledged the role of the media, colleagues, and associates who contributed to the success of the event.
“I appreciate the gentlemen of the press and all distinguished guests who expended their time and resources to celebrate with me,” he added.
Osinaike concluded by expressing profound gratitude to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for the opportunity to serve.
“I remain profoundly grateful for the privilege to serve under your administration.
The confidence reposed in me enabled me to contribute my quota to the development of our dear state,” he said.
“As I step into this new chapter of life, I do so with cherished memories and a grateful heart. May God bless and reward you all abundantly.”
The event ended on a note of celebration, prayers, and goodwill, as guests wished the retired educationist a fulfilling and impactful life beyond public service.
