President Bola Tinubu has expressed sympathy to traders and residents of Kano State following a fire outbreak at Singer Market over the weekend.
The message was conveyed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

he fire reportedly started on Saturday evening and continued into the early hours of Sunday, destroying goods and affecting several food sellers in the busy market.
Several shops were razed as flames spread across parts of the market, leaving traders to count their losses.
Following the incident, the President contacted the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to obtain details of the situation and assess the extent of the damage.
Tinubu described the incident as painful and disturbing, noting that it occurred shortly after a similar fire destroyed shops in the same market less than two weeks ago.
He expressed concern over the repeated outbreaks, which have left many business owners struggling to recover. The President directed that a full investigation be conducted to determine the cause of the fires and prevent future occurrences.

The latest incident came barely two weeks after another fire at Singer Market earlier in February, which destroyed several large stores and resulted in losses worth millions of naira.
